Circle boundaries: The sources of Pavel Zaltsman's catastrophism
Abstract
The article provides a characteristic of Pavel Zaltsman's (1912−1985) literary heritage, compared to his pictorial heritage. The analysis of Zaltsman's military topics is aimed at the demonstration of sources of catastrophism in his literary works and the engagement of the intertextual field of the Russian and world literatures (A. Bierce, A. Vesely, D. Kharms) and pictorial art (O. Dix, A. Dürer, P. Filonov) makes it possible to insert Pavel Zaltsman into the broad cultural context that is beyond the scope of (post)avant-garde art.
