Sergei Dovlatov in the eclectic area
Abstract
This paper is focused on the analysis of Sergei Dovlatov's "The Zone". The author relies upon the fact that the eclecticity of "The Zone" noticed by all researchers cannot be explained by his apprenticeship expenses. Started in the 1960s, "The Zone" was actually finished and published in the 1980s. The author supposes that Sergei Dovlatov, when preparing his book for publication, made an original decision: to preserve the style-specific and ideologic-conceptual eclecticity caused by his apprenticeship immaturity. The reason for that was the following: that eclecticism proved to be adequate to his new artistic philosophy, which was fully postmodernist and based upon the idea of the absurd randomness of the human nature.
