Adam and Eve in Kizhi island: about one plot of Y. Kazakov
Abstract
The article observes Kizhi realities in the plot of Y.Kazakov's novel "Adam and Eve" (1962). Some published letters of the end of the 1950s contain a reference to the author's travel to Karelia and Kizhi Island in the autumn of 1959, which was reflected in the story. The image of nothern island with an ancient church determined the artistic context of the novel that was written shortly thereafter. The article presents a research of writer's interest to Kizhi Island as well as some historical-cultural and real comments to some details of artistic topography of "Adam and Eve". Y.Kazakov's novel offers the possibility of seeing the transformation of real terrain's features in the poetic context, some interactional verges of seen and fictitious. Facts and observations enounced in the article complement and refine the existing idea of "nothern theme" in writer's works.
