On the «Active Dictionary of Russian» and Description of the Language: Theory and Methods of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language

In 2014 the work on the first two volumes of "Active dictionary of Russian" (Editor-in-chief: Acad. Yu. D. Apresyan) was completed. Based on the experience of the European and Russian lexicologists as to how describe a language as a system and create dictionaries of this kind, the authors developed a dictionary entry which comprises information on linguistic features of words essential for speech production. The information presented in the dictionary and the system of dictionary entries, in many respects, reflect the principles of linguistic analysis and language description which have been developed within the theory and methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language. This allows us to state that the experience of researches in the field of Russian as a foreign language can be extrapolated to linguistic research in other fields.
