Are Latin Biblical Fragments Originating from Athos Parts of the Amalfion Monastery Library?
Abstract
The article discusses the arrangement and content of the notes found in the Latin top-sheets of the Moscow Historical museum Greek manuscript GIM (MHM), Synod. gr. 104 (101). These sheets correlate with the similar fragments of two Bibles in the Beneventan script dated by the X-XI c. and found in the libraries of Paris and Moni Koutloumousiou (Athos). The fragments were used for the restoration of the Greek codices on Mount Athos up to the XIII century, when Greek interlinear glosses appeared in MHM and BNF parts of the manuscript. Scholarly Latin marginal notes on the top-sheets of Synod. gr. 104 are dated by the end of the XIII or beginning of the XIV century.
