Principles of Federalism in the Legal Regulation of American Media

Abstract

The approaches to the legal regulation of mass media in the United States at the federal level and at the level of states are analyzed in the article. The research is based on the comparative analysis of the Constitution of the United States, state constitutions, federal and state laws. It discusses the application of the American federalism principles in regulation of information sphere. Also, it identifies the models of separation of powers that are realized in the constitutional and statutory law. The article confirms thesis that the states strive to apply a broad interpretation of federal laws.
